Lexus IS250


The Lexus IS lineup is the company's answer to the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Infiniti G37, and BMW 3 Series. The IS first went on sale in 2000, followed by the current generation, which launched in 2005. This generation IS started with the IS 250 and 350 sedans; as is still the case, the 250 comes with a 2.5-liter, 204-horsepower V-6 and a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.The newest members of the IS club are the IS 250/350C retractable hardtop convertibles. These use the same engines and transmissions as the sedans, but all-wheel drive is not available.




The IS 350 comes with a 306-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 with a six-speed automatic. Both are available with all-wheel drive. The next addition to the line was the IS F, which is as close to an M3, AMG, or Audi S model as you can get. The IS F is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 with 416 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic, plus it comes with a lower, sport-tuned suspension and unique four-passenger cabin.



McLaren MP4-12C



The McLaren MP4-12C is the first in a series of high-performance sports car McLaren Automotive, the independent division car unveiled at the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, England. With the hard work and dedication already put into the MP4-12C, McLaren felt it necessary to tweak the supercar before it was delivered to its high-paying customers. Modifications such as an improved throttle response and a "fruitier" exhaust note were applied and will take effect only in Track mode. McLaren also said that these modifications were already planned, but the press criticism made the company hightail the changes before the vehicles were delivered.

K1 Evelio




The Slovak manufacturer has just revealed the K1 Evelio

Built on the basis of its initial model, the K1 Attack Roadster weighing less than 1000kg, produced since 2004 in Bratislava, the engineers decided to develop an electric propulsion and we appreciate the idea ...

The K1 Attack Roadster is based on a tubular "space frame" chassis and a fiberglass body, but to save weight (mostly on the electric version) the company would like to switch to carbon and aluminum, but it's all about cost ...

Although these are only preliminary data, I guess you can not wait to know its specifications: powered by a 200hp motor, the Evolio’s speed is limited at a 145kph but 0 to 100kph should take less than 3.2 seconds... K1 opted for Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries that offer a range between 160 and 240 km depending on the type of driving.

Technology demonstrator aimed to attract potential investors the K1 Evelio could emerge if the public shows enough interest.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing


The Gullwing is back in a new form, paying homage to the original 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL. But the 2010-2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is supposed to be a supercar for everyday use, ditching McLaren in favour of in-house development by AMG.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG embodies a blend of consummate automotive fascination and high tech. The super sports car delivers a compelling mix of purist styling, consistent lightweight design and superior driving dynamics. At the same time, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG fully lives up to all the expectations of hallmark Mercedes everyday practicality and optimum safety. In essence, the new ‘Gullwing’ offers the ideal synthesis of the strengths of Mercedes-Benz and AMG.Underneath the long hood is a 571 hp 6.3-litre V8 engine with 650 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automanual gearbox, a lightweight structure molded largely from carbon-fibre and aluminium double-wishbone suspension. Weighing in at 1,620 kg, the SLS AMG can do the 0-100 kph sprint in 3.8 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 317 kph.
The car’s trademark feature is the set of “gullwing” doors. The doors require less room to open than conventional coupe doors and can be completely opened in standard sized garages. The simplistic interior can be customised in various colours, and is fitted with sports seats, metal trim, leather and optional carbon appliqués.
Among other things, the centre console incorporates the AMG DRIVE UNIT, which enables SLS owners to customise their vehicle’s set-up. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission is operated by means of the E-SELECT lever.
The new super sports car from Mercedes-Benz and AMG makes for an alluring proposition with its unrivalled technology package: aluminium spaceframe body with gullwing doors, AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid engine developing 420 kW/ 571 hp peak output, 650 Nm of torque and dry sump lubrication, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission in a transaxle configuration, sports suspension with aluminium double wishbones and a kerb weight of 1620 kilograms based on the DINstandard – this superlative combination guarantees driving dynamics of the highest order. The ideal front/rear weight distribution of 47 to 53 percent and the vehicle’s low centre of gravity are testimony to the uncompromising sports car concept. The ‘Gullwing’ accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, before going on to a top speed of 317 km/h (electronically limited). The fuel consumption of 13.2 litres per 100 kilometres (combined) puts it at the front of the competitive field (all figures provisional).

Spadaconcept Codatronca TS

There are a number of reasons why this Italian-built sports car caught our eye here at the Motoring Channel. For one, it's based on the popular American Corvette sports car, and is powered by the venerable LS7 V8 engine.

Clearly it's an Italian design - with subtle American themes from its Corvette donor car - which means the styling is far from dull, and there's also the truncated tail that will turn more heads than a Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale.






According to Spadaconcept, the company behind the car, the new vehicle is it's latest model which is built in the spirit and tradition of the Italian 'carrozzieria' (which roughly translates to 'auto body' but usually means 'coach building'). The niche car maker says the Codatronca TS (TS = Turismo Sportivo) combines both racing and touring characteristics and represents the latest evolution of the concept of truncated tail. 


Taking the C6 Chevrolet Corvette at it's base, Spadaconcept modifies most aspects of the vehicle from the body work, to the suspension, to the engine, and across the interior design as well.It explains that the Codatronca TS 'might' be the heir of the TZ models, and will be built in a limited series.

The Alfa TZ and TZ2 were designed by Ercole Spada - now the head of Spadaconcept which formed in 2006 - and commissioned by his friend Elio Zagato (some readers may be aware of the famous 'Zagato' name, which another exotic niche car maker that builds models based on famous sports cars from Maserati, Ferrari and others).

As well as the Spadaconcept Codatronca TS's slightly strange styling, typified in the truncated rear end, the car is very much entrenched in the performance world, powered by the Chevy LS7 V8. This 8-cylinder engine has a 7.0-litre capacity and in this Italian application it generates more than 330kW or 500 horsepower. The engine's vital statistics are as follows:

Power: 337kW @ 6300rpm

Torque: 637Nm @ 4800rpm

The strong V8 engine gives the Italian 2-door sports car an immense turn of speed, particularly when the car doesn't weigh too much, 1400kg without passengers. Like a traditional sports car the Codatronca TS's engine is front mounted, and 6-speed manual transmission shunts power and torque to the rear axle, making the car rear-wheel drive.

With it's low weight of 1400 kilograms, positive aerodynamics, and low 1246mm roofline, the Codatronca TS can be termed a super car because of its zero to 100km/h acceleration time of just 3.7 seconds. It is unwritten law that anything under 4.0 seconds can be claimed to be a true super car.

Top speed for the new Italian exotic is 330km/h, or 205mph. 

The body is suspended by cast aluminium independent double wishbone suspension at the front to give the car precise handling traits and with adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, the car can be tailored to suit driving and surface conditions.

The wheel and brake package is comprised of 18- x 9.5-inch front wheel rims and wider 19- x 12-inch rear wheel rims, while the braking system features 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, with cross-drilled discs and ABS electronics.

The Italian company insists the Codatronca TS is a timeless design, finding its common point between the past and the future, while offering a surfeit of performance from its huge 7.0-litre V8 engine. Build in limited quantities, the Spadaconcept's latest design is sure to polarise opinion wherever it travels.
